Jay has a quick ability to distill any idea into something that is easily grasped, and often funny. He does it while talking with you, and he does it in visual form. Since his teen years, he's been making one-page story collages called 'cutouts' since each element is made from cuts of colored paper. When Mari and Jay had been dating a short while, he made her a book of cutouts to record their interesting dates. It was so delightful, that she married him. A visit with a museum curator-friend led to the idea of translating the cutouts into silkscreen prints. Jay then pursued learning the skill of silkscreening and discovered he had the knack.
Mari enjoys really talking with people, especially one-on-one. Mari's family members helped nurture her childhood creative expression, and it led to her pursuing college training in photography. Now, with several years' practical experience in customer service, she is the contact person for sales and new accounts.
Jay is Native American, Lipan Apache, and as this business is founded on Jay's strength, it was natural for the company name to reflect a big source of that strength. It also fit that Mari is a longtime conservationist.
This was chosen because Native Land Promotion Co. is geared to help organizations and entities get their messages heard, while keeping it affordable, and quirky, whenever possible.
